It started with the tiny things - the radio turning on its own to polka music at 3 AM, the wipers going berserk on a clear day. But yesterday, it crossed the boundary. I was heading out to get some groceries, and when I went back inside for my keys, bam! My car had decided to make a break for it with the remote in its glove compartment.

  • Honestly, I'm not making this up
  • It zoomed away like a scene from Knight Rider, leaving me standing there with my jaw on the floor.

So, here I am. Stuck at home, with no car and a mounting fear that my trusty ride is plotting its next move. I need advice, people! How do you deal with a car that has a mind of its own?

Stuck Outside With No Spare Keys

Sweat trickled down my neck as I stared at the locked door. My mind raced, trying to remember any detail about how I'd left the house this morning. Had I even taken a spare key with me? • Maybe there was a window I could use?
  • A wave of panic crushed me.

There was no way I was going to this. My phone was dead, and reaching someone seemed out of reach.
